A third film was expected for a while. Logan Lerman was expected to reprise his appearance as Percy Jackson in Percy Jackson: The Titan's Curse.

In recent years, there have been a slew of outstanding book-to-film adaptations, including the majority of the Harry Potter films and The Hunger Games films. These films have proved to be immensely common with fans of the novels. What about Percy Jackson, though?

Percy Jackson is a series of five books written by Rick Riordan, but only two of them have been adapted for the screen. Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief was released in 2010, and a sequel, Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters, was released in 2013. Both films did well at the box office, grossing $226.4 million for the first and $199.98 million for the second. While the second film didn't have the same success as the first, the character always piqued the attention of the public. But that was then, and this is now, and the Percy Jackson film series has yet to see a third instalment.

Is there going to be a Percy Jackson 3? Is he doomed to follow in the footsteps of other fictional teen heroes, such as the recent Artemis Fowl, who are unlikely to return in a sequel? Sorry to say, but a third film is unlikely to be made. This is why:
